I write, teach, and curate in the field of early modern art and material culture.

I received my Ph.D. and A.M. in Art History from Harvard University. Before that, I studied in Italy and Spain, earning a B.A. and an M.A. from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

My research has been supported by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the Getty Research Institute, the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Villa I Tatti - the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies, the Renaissance Society of America, and the University of Hamburg, among others.

Today, I work between the University of St Andrews in the UK and the Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome, where I lead the Lise Meitner Group.
